Welcome to Inspiration Vineyards and Winery.  Founded in 2002, our mission hasn’t wavered: We strive to produce high quality, food friendly wines at an affordable price, using the finest quality grapes grown throughout Sonoma County.

Great Grandfather and Aunts in San Martin Vineyards, c 1910

Can you believe that we have been actively producing wines since the turn of the century?

Slight exaggeration, but actually true. Although it has only been since 1999 that Jon started producing wine for friends and family; his fascination with wine began while he was in college, working in the tasting room at the Mirassou Winery in San Jose, California.

It may also be possible that Jon’s interest in wine is in his blood. In the early 1900’s, Jon’s great-grandparents owned and farmed vineyards in San Martin, California.

Sonoma Strong Promotion Sonoma proud!

All of our wines are handcrafted and produced from grapes proudly grown in Sonoma County, California.

Every March, we welcome visitors to the winery to try samples from the barrel. Called “futures”, save 40% by purchasing now before the wines are bottled.

Our Wine Store includes our newest vintages along with a limited amount of wines from previous vintages. Because alcohol shipments require special permits and an adult signature, we’re not able to ship to ALL states. Depending on what state we’re shipping to, we have two different secure Wine Store Shopping Carts. Please reach out to us if you don’t see your state on one of these links.

Saturday, May 23rd @ 3:00pm – We depart the Rhône valley talking about the blends of Châteauneuf-du-pape (which translates to the New House of the Pope) and why these wines are really special in my book! Tasting along, we’ll enjoy a few of our “Inspiracio Rouge” vintages that were inspired by this amazing Rhône blend along with our Avaler “r-own-cuvee” a wine that’s a collaboration between Dylan Sheldon and myself.

Saturday, May 30th @ 3:00pm – With Memorial day now behind us and the BBQ season just beginning, Zinfandel is on the menu – the perfect BBQ wine! We’ll be tasting through several vintages of our other Zinfandel’s that we’ve made over the years. Most of these wines came from either Dry Creek Valley or Alexander Valley and are very different than our Old Vine Zinfandel. In addition, we’ll talk about Zinfandel, it’s origin, it’s many styles and ponder why this fun wine hasn’t taken off like it was expected to.

Saturday, June 6th @ 3:00pm – As we prepare for the first day of summer, let’s get into Rosé! We’ll go over all of the different techniques in which rosé is made from saignee to a dedicated press. And of course we will taste a few different examples during our time together.

As we evolve these tastings, look for some discussion on future topics, like food & wine pairing ideas with recipes and some discussion about places other than Sonoma County that makes great wine, like Chablis.

Since 2011, Inspiration Vineyards has been offering custom wine making to those who lack a facility of their own. Jon Phillips & Dylan Sheldon, have almost 40 years of combined experienced in producing high quality, small production, award winning wines. Where some custom wine making facilities require a large multi-ton minimum commitment, our focus has always been on small lot production, willing to take on single barrel projects when asked.

We offer a full range of wine making and consulting services to address your needs from custom wine making, also known as “custom crush” to winery hosting, also known as Alternating Proprietor (AP) services.

Because everyone’s wine making goals are unique and different, please contact us to make and appointment for a free consultation. Both Jon and Dylan would be happy to sit down and meet with you to discuss your objectives and our pricing.
